Threat to Ukraine from Slovak Prime Minister Fico

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, in a statement on his social media account, threatened to cut off emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.

Fico stated, "If the President of Ukraine (Volodymyr Zelenskyy) does not resume oil shipments to Slovakia by Monday, I will ask Slovak companies to stop supplying emergency electricity to Ukraine on the same day."

Fico noted that his country has continued to provide aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine War, emphasizing that nearly 180,000 Ukrainians are currently in Slovakia and that they continue to provide humanitarian aid to these individuals. Fico accused Zelenskyy of failing to understand their peaceful approach.

"Zelenskiy caused 500 million euros in damages"

Regarding Zelenskyy's political stance toward Slovakia, Fico said, "He is acting hostile toward Slovakia because we do not support the war." The Slovak Prime Minister claimed that the Ukrainian leader first caused 500 million euros in annual losses by stopping gas shipments to Slovakia, and is now causing additional losses and difficulties in the logistics sector by stopping oil shipments. Fico said, "Given Zelenskyy's unacceptable behavior toward Slovakia and his attitude as if we were a hostile state, my refusal to include Slovakia in the 90 billion euro military loan for Ukraine is entirely appropriate."

Reminding that the Slovak oil refining company Slovnaft stopped diesel exports to Ukraine last Wednesday and that all production would be directed to the domestic market, Robert Fico reported that the damage to the Druzhba oil pipeline, which was damaged in a Russian airstrike at the end of January, has been repaired. Fico claimed that the fact that oil is still not flowing to Slovakia through the pipeline in question is a political decision by Zelenskyy.
