Smoking to be banned on beaches and in forests
A written statement by Minister Rousseau introducing the 2023-2027 New National Tobacco Control Program was published on the Ministry of Health's website.

Rousseau pointed out that an average of 75 thousand people lose their lives in France every year due to smoking, emphasizing that this corresponds to approximately 200 deaths per day.
Pointing out that smoking is the leading cause of death in the country, Rousseau announced that they will gradually increase the price of cigarette packs as part of the 2023-2027 New National Tobacco Control Program.
Accordingly, the price of a pack of cigarettes will rise to 12 euros in 2025 and 13 euros in 2027.
AIM IS TO PROTECT YOUNG PEOPLE WHO DO NOT SMOKE
Rousseau stated that under the program, smoking will be banned on beaches, in public parks, around certain public areas such as schools, and in forests.
Stating that they aim to reduce smoking in public areas with the program, Rousseau underlined that with the steps taken, young people who do not smoke, in particular, will be exposed to less cigarette smoke.
Noting that they will also ban disposable cigarettes, Rousseau announced that those who want to quit smoking will receive more support.
