Muazzez İşleyen, a resident of the Erciş district of Van, went to South Korea for her master's degree after completing her studies in the Department of International Relations at Aydın Adnan Menderes University. There, she met a South Korean university student named Jong Wook Park. Having previously researched Islam, J. Wook Park received information about the Muslim faith from İşleyen. After becoming friends, the two decided to get married.
A SPLENDID ENGAGEMENT
The young Korean man visited his girlfriend's family living in Erciş. The İşleyen family, who were initially opposed to the marriage, agreed to their daughter Muazzez marrying J. Wook Park after this visit. Jong Wook Park, who converted to Islam and took the name Muhammet Mustafa, and Muazzez İşleyen were engaged in the district with a magnificent ceremony. It was learned that the couple, who left for South Korea after the engagement, will hold their wedding there.
'HE BECAME A MUSLIM THANKS TO MY SISTER'
Muazzez İşleyen said, "I went to South Korea to study at university, and while I was studying, my husband was also attending university in South Korea. We met through our friends during this time. Later, we talked to our families and decided to get married. It was actually difficult at first because, since he was someone from a different background, it seemed like it would be viewed strangely by my family and relatives. However, when he came to Turkey, my family loved him very much, and his mother also came here. In this way, we brought our families together and decided to hold a henna night and an engagement ceremony in Turkey. We are very happy".
The South Korean groom, stating that he loves Muazzez, Turkey, and her family very much, said, "Thank you to everyone". The bride's brother, Fırat İşleyen, said, "Wook believed in another religion. After meeting my sister, he became a Muslim thanks to her. After that, he met us. They said they wanted to come to Erciş, we accepted, and they came. We are currently holding our wedding".
