Spain-Uruguay flight hits turbulence, 30 injured

At least 30 passengers were injured after a passenger plane belonging to the Spain-based airline Air Europa encountered turbulence while flying from Spain to Uruguay. The plane made an emergency landing in Brazil.

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner passenger plane operated by the Spain-based airline Air Europa encountered severe turbulence while flying from Madrid, the capital of Spain, to Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.

At least 30 passengers were injured due to the turbulence, and the plane made an emergency landing in Brazil.

In a statement released by Air Europa, it was announced that flight UX045 was diverted to Natal Airport in northeastern Brazil. The statement, which noted that there were 325 passengers on board, stated that the plane encountered turbulence over the Atlantic as it approached the Brazilian coast.

First aid teams met the plane upon its landing at Natal Airport, and passengers requiring medical attention were transported to hospitals. Health officials stated that the passengers sustained injuries to their heads and faces.

ONE PERSON HAD LOST THEIR LIFE

On May 20, a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300ER passenger plane, flight SQ321, which took off from London bound for Singapore, encountered severe turbulence over Myanmar and lost 54 meters of altitude in 4.6 seconds. During the incident, 104 passengers were injured, and a 73-year-old British citizen died as a result of a heart attack. The plane made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok at 15:45 local time on May 21.
