The UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) is looking for people to serve at the Port Lockroy base in Antarctica, located at the southernmost tip of the world, approximately 9,000 miles from the UK, for the 2024-25 season. This unique job opportunity offers a wide range of tasks, from sorting mail to observing penguins.

Applications are open to individuals with a variety of experiences and skills, ranging from customer service to wildlife monitoring and general maintenance activities. The selected candidates will take on tasks such as welcoming 18,000 visitors, the preservation and repair of historic structures, and operating the Port Lockroy gift shop.

CHALLENGING LIVING CONDITIONS

Candidates must be prepared to spend five months in challenging Antarctic conditions, lacking modern amenities such as Wi-Fi or running water. This requires candidates to be resilient, physically fit, and environmentally conscious.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND TRAINING

Those interested must apply by Monday, March 18, and selected candidates are required to attend training starting in August. Successful candidates will embark on an Antarctic adventure that will last from the end of 2024 until March 2025. ITV News encourages potential applicants to apply for this unique experience.
