Statement from socialist parties on Syria: Israel's joy will be short-lived

Socialist parties in Turkey, evaluating the change in administration in Syria and the influence of jihadist groups, emphasized that the winners of the developments in the region are imperialist powers and Zionism. The socialist parties stated that the Syrian people must determine their own destiny and called for a unified resistance against foreign interventions.

Statement from socialist parties on Syria: Israel's joy will be short-lived

The repercussions continue following the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad administration in Syria and the seizure of the country's governance by jihadist structures led by HTS. Socialist parties; the Labour Party (EMEP), the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), the Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH), and the LEFT Party (SOL Parti) have issued statements regarding the developments in Syria.

In the statement issued by EMEP, it was stated: "The Assad regime was certainly not a democratic regime, but the HTS regime will not be a democratic regime either.

To date, an Islamist democratic regime has not been seen on earth. It is not possible for one to be seen from now on either."

LEFT PARTY: THE GREATER MIDDLE EAST PROJECT HAS GAINED A NEW POSITION

The LEFT Party also released a statement regarding the change of administration in Syria. In the LEFT Party's statement, it was said: "Today in Syria, the American flag has been hoisted by jihadist gangs. The ethnic and sectarian fragmentation of Syria under the dominance of jihadist gangs, which are remnants of ISIS and Al-Qaeda, has become a springboard for the establishment of a new Middle Eastern order around American and Israeli interests. The Greater Middle East Project has gained a new position. Under the noise of conquest, the AKP and MHP have lined up behind the jihadist darkness, the representative of medieval barbarism, on the US-Israel axis. The government, which will not hesitate for a moment to set the country on fire to maintain its exhausted regime, is pursuing new roles for this purpose in its capacity as Co-Chair of the GMEP. Syria has also become the epicenter of the game to pave the way for Erdoğan's lifelong presidency, which was continued by starting with 'openings'."

The statement continued: "The LEFT Party will continue the struggle shoulder to shoulder with the peoples who are fighting and will continue to fight against the new order that is being attempted to be established in line with the interests of the US and Israel."

TKH: IT IS NOT THE SYRIAN PEOPLE BUT IMPERIALISM AND ZIONISM THAT HAVE WON

In the statement published by the TKH, it was said: "It has been proven once again in light of the developments in Syria that the strings of political Islamism are directly in the hands of imperialism. Jihadists and Zionism have met in Syria, and the winner has been Zionism."

The statement noted: "It appears that there is an acceptance, contrary to expectations, regarding the handover of Syria to jihadist gangs from the perspective of Russia and Iran. Whether out of necessity or a conscious choice, the foreign policy pursued by Russia and Iran should also be noted as an example of the pragmatist foreign policy of both countries.

The role played by the AKP as one of the partners in the internal collapse of Syria is not a gain for Turkey; it has further entrenched the problems our country will face. While serving the interests of Israel and America, the AKP government has also made the 'Sharia emirate' established right next to us a neighbor to our country. From now on, we are faced with a chaotic process in Syria under the control of imperialism and jihadists."

TKP: ISRAEL AND THE US HAVE WON A TEMPORARY VICTORY BY USING JIHADISTS

The TKP issued a statement following the fall of the administration in Syria, saying: "The plan that began approximately 15 years ago and set out to fragment Syria has reached success."

The TKP's statement is as follows: "Today, all of the 'winners' in Syria are allies of the US and Israel. Perhaps bloody clashes will occur among the 'winners', perhaps the 'harmony' witnessed on the field for a week will be established by the US.

However, the US 'peace' is always bloody, always pregnant with new conflicts. Peace, stability, and tranquility in Syria can only be established when imperialism and jihadists are defeated.

A resistance against imperialism and Zionism will certainly form in Syria. For this resistance to act with a revolutionary perspective, defending secularism, and being unifying without relying on other international powers, depends somewhat on the developments in Turkey. Israel and the US have won a temporary victory in Syria by using jihadists. Israel, the US, and jihadism must be defeated in Turkey. We call out to all our citizens. This is not a game. If we care about our country and our future, we need to talk about how we will stand up and get rid of this barbarism and do what is necessary."

The statement also included the following: "It is imperative to curb the joy experienced in Neo-Ottomanist circles that dream of 'expansion' after the developments in Syria. This approach does not only mean attempting to mask exploitation, inequality, and injustice with conquest; it also causes the implementation of a plan that will lead to the disintegration of Turkey. Our country and our citizens are facing a great test."

TİP: WE WILL CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE MORE DETERMINEDLY

In the statement made by the TİP, it was said: "A new phase has been entered in the operation carried out in Syria by the US and its friends together with jihadist terrorist organizations and so-called moderate Islamist forces," and added: "In Syria, where the territory has effectively become highly fragmented, control of the state has currently passed to a coalition led by the Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization called HTS. The new situation in Syria also means a gain for the long-term policy envisioned by the US for the Middle East, centered on protecting Israel and its own trade zones and routes. In the next steps of this policy, which receives the support of Gulf monarchies, Tel Aviv, and Ankara, moves directed at Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq can also be expected."

The statement continued: "Imperialists use political Islamism in our region; they deepen ethnic and sectarian differences and turn peoples against each other. We are here. We are aware that we have a greater responsibility than ever to defend labor, freedoms, secularism, and peace. We will continue the struggle more determinedly to save our country and our region from reactionary actors and those under the tutelage of imperialism, especially the AKP government."

EMEP: THE SYRIAN PEOPLE MUST DETERMINE THEIR OWN DESTINY

In the statement published under the signature of Labour Party Chairman Seyit Aslan, it was said: "Some circles among us are also calling for Turkey to attack Kurdish regions with the SNA and expand, with the motto of turning the current situation into an opportunity. Such a policy means that Turkey will also be dragged into the war. Turkey should withdraw its armed forces from Syria, advocate for the Syrian peoples to freely determine their own destiny, and develop brotherly relations with the Syrian people.

Imperialist powers and their collaborators have condemned the Middle East to a quagmire of war, migration, and poverty for years. Instead of fighting with each other and within themselves, the peoples of the Middle East should unite and fight against imperialist powers. Imperialists and foreign military units, including Turkey, must withdraw from Syria immediately. The Syrian people, consisting of different national identities and beliefs, must determine their own destiny."
