Statement from the Syrian Interior Ministry regarding the attack that killed US soldiers

The Syrian Ministry of Interior issued a statement regarding the attack in the countryside of the city of Tadmur (Palmyra) in which 2 US soldiers and 1 civilian lost their lives. The statement said. The Ministry of Interior Spokesperson Nureddin al-Baba stated that the incidentat the entrance of a headquartersin the rural areaof the city of Tadmur, while the international coalition and Syrian Internal Security command staff were conducting a joint field inspectionit occurred, they reported.

Thespokesperson stated that a member of the terrorist organization ISIS opened fireclashas a result of theclash eruptedand that the attacker was neutralized, while noting that the attacker had nocommand authority or protection duty within the Syrian security forces,and noted that the connectionto the organization is being investigated in detail. Al-Baba further stated thatthey had previously warned the joint forces in the regionabout the possibility of an infiltration and attack attemptoriginating from ISIS,but despite these warnings, no precautionswere taken, adding, "The international coalition forcesforces did notheed warnings regarding the possibility of an attack," it said.

In a statement made previously by the US Department ofDefense (Pentagon),itwas stated that in theregion, within the scope of counter-terrorismpatrols in the areaconductingsecurity forces, the attackresulted in the deaths of 2 US soldiers and 1 civilian acting as a translatorwas reported, and Pentagon Spokesperson Sean Parnell, the attackIt was also reported that 3 people were injured in the attack.
