Storm and tornado disaster in India: 5 dead, 100 injured
A severe storm and tornado that struck the Indian state of West Bengal have left 5 people dead and 100 injured.

A severe storm, tornado, and hailstorm struck the Jalpaiguri district in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal yesterday. The storm caused damage to at least 800 homes and led to trees and utility poles being knocked down.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that 5 people lost their lives and at least 100 others were injured due to the storm.
Banerjee noted that police, district administration, disaster management, and rapid response teams have been deployed to the area to conduct rescue operations and provide aid, adding that those affected by the disaster have been relocated to safe areas.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and stated that he has instructed officials to provide the necessary assistance to those affected by the disaster.
