Various social media accounts supporting the Syria-based Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) have intensified their propaganda activities in recent days using specific footage. While debates continue over whether this propaganda aligns with reality, a striking statement regarding the return process of Syrians came from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Minister Yerlikaya stated that in the last month alone, 52 thousand 622 Syrians have returned to their country.
However, these figures bring different questions to the public agenda! How many times have the returning Syrians entered and exited the country? It is noted that the lack of data sharing on this issue creates question marks regarding the transparency of the process.
Democrat Party politician İlay Aksoy also made a statement on this issue, pointing out that despite the war having ended long ago, millions of Syrians continue to stay in Turkey.
While Aksoy stated that HTS supporters are portraying their leaders as heroes to the Syrians, she asked, 'If the Syrian people love and support this terrorist so much, why is a 'readmission agreement' not being made between the new interim government and Turkey?'
On the other hand, Aksoy emphasized that Turkey continues to provide free health, education, and pharmaceutical services to millions of foreigners and asked 'why this situation is being maintained.'
As debates regarding the return of Syrians to their countries continue in the public eye, it appears that this issue will remain one of the main agenda items of politics in the coming period.
