A suspect arrested last year on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack on US singer Taylor Swift's concert in Austria has confessed that they were also preparing for an operation in Istanbul.
BBC had previously reported that the suspect had pledged allegiance to ISIS.
According to the report by DW Türkçe, citing the Austria-based media outlet Krone Zeitung, the suspect, who is alleged to have ISIS links, said that they aimed to carry out simultaneous attacks in Istanbul, Dubai, and Mecca at the beginning of Ramadan last year.
However, it was stated that apart from one person who came to Istanbul for the attack, no concrete evidence regarding a possible terrorist act in the city was found. It is suggested that the suspects' plans may have been thwarted by security forces.
