Suspicious package panic in Cologne

A memorial ceremony is being held for the 20th anniversary of the bomb attack carried out on June 9, 2004, by the far-right National Socialist Underground (NSU) terrorist organization, which killed 10 people, including 8 Turks, in Germany.
A suspicious package was found ahead of the ceremony, which was set to be attended by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, North Rhine-Westphalia State Premier Hendrik Wüst, Turkey's Consul General in Cologne Turan Kaya, and Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker, all of whom were scheduled to deliver speeches.
Police took extensive precautions during the incident, which caused panic.
Police searching the area moved the public on the street to the other side.
The police, who cordoned off the area, announced that security had been increased in the region due to the discovery of a suspicious package.
