Swiss Foreign Ministry: 3 points cannot be implemented without Russia

Swiss Foreign Minister Cassis told a Sputnik reporter in response to a question that none of the 3 points approved in the final declaration of the Ukraine conference held in Bürgenstock can be implemented without Russia's participation.

Cassis gave the following response to the question:

“The Federal Council did not plan to have Russia among us at the first conference. But we tried and saw that it was impossible. A promise was made that Russia would be among us when the time for this process comes. Now the question is, at what point and on what path can we take this step? Because all the paths that can be presented today do not ensure Russia's participation. This is a dilemma we are in today, and you are right, many of the decisions we made today cannot be implemented without Russia's participation. We chose these 3 issues because we thought these were the points that were truly valuable to the Russians. We did not touch upon other problematic issues such as territoriality, because we know that we are more or less at a complete impasse.

WHAT IS BEING DISCUSSED AT THE CONFERENCE?

The final declaration, signed by 79 of the 92 participating countries at the end of the Ukraine conference held in Switzerland without Russia's participation, calls for the full exchange of prisoners of war, free navigation in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, and the transfer of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) to Ukraine.
