Sylingarfell volcano in Iceland erupts for the second time this year

The Sylingarfell Volcano in Iceland has erupted for the second time this year, spewing lava up to 80 meters into the air in its sixth eruption since 2021. On its website, the country's meteorological office issued an announcement stating, 

"Warning: A volcanic eruption has begun north of Sylingarfell."

It was reported that intense seismic activity began around 5:30 a.m. and the eruption occurred approximately 30 minutes later. While it was stated that the fissure formed following the eruption is approximately 3 km long, it is believed that the outbreak originated from the same volcano as the eruption on December 18.
