The synagogue known as the 'Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters', located at 770 Eastern Parkway in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, and heavily frequented by the Jewish community, was raided by police.
During the raid, secret tunnels dug under the synagogue were identified. At that time, individuals who resisted the police and attempted to flee through the tunnels, including students studying at the synagogue, were taken into custody.
WOOD-PANELED SECTIONS
While claims have circulated on social media accounts suggesting that the tunnels were dug to allow for secret worship during the pandemic or to enable women to enter secretly, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
On the other hand, some reports reflected in the American media alleged that work related to the digging of the tunnels had been ongoing until 6 months ago.
In images reflected on social media accounts, dirty and old mattresses as well as wood-paneled sections in some of the excavated areas drew attention.
