The German newspaper BILD wrote that an increasing number of people from abroad are seeking to obtain German citizenship and acquire a German passport, and that Syrian migrants are the largest group in the country in this regard by a wide margin.
It was noted that this increase in the number of Syrian migrants stems from the fact that Syrian citizens who met the requirements for naturalization between 2014 and 2016 entered Germany during that period.
It was reported that 7 thousand 538 foreigners were naturalized in Hamburg in 2023, and that this number increased by nearly 20 percent compared to the previous year.
