Syria's $15.5 million debt to the World Bank has been paid
In a statement released by the bank, it was reported that Syria's debts to the World Bank Group have been cleared.

The statement indicated that as of May 12, Syria's debt of approximately $15.5 million to the International Development Association (IDA) had been paid.
The statement, which noted that the debts were paid by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, recorded that with this development, the country's eligibility for new operations has been restored, provided that the relevant World Bank operational policies are followed.
The statement specified that Syria no longer has any outstanding debt regarding IDA loans.
The IDA, a fund created by the World Bank Group for the poorest countries, provides zero or low-interest loans and grants to countries for projects and programs aimed at increasing economic growth, building resilience, and improving the lives of poor people.
