The US and Canada will come together to discuss the 25 percent additional customs duty the US plans to impose on Canada. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the additional customs duty will be addressed at a summit to be held by the Canada-United States Relations Council in Toronto on Friday.

Stating that the summit will address growing the Canadian economy, expanding domestic trade, diversifying export markets, and productivity, Trudeau also announced that they will work to increase coordination between partners.

Customs duties on Mexico and Canada suspended for 30 days

US President Donald Trump had suspended the 25 percent customs duty decision against Mexico and Canada for 30 days last Monday, in exchange for strict measures being taken against migration and drug trafficking.

Canada had agreed to deploy new technology and personnel to the US border and to cooperate in the fight against organized crime, fentanyl trafficking, and money laundering. Mexico, on the other hand, had announced that it would deploy 10 thousand National Guard troops to the US border to prevent illegal migration and the flow of drugs.
