Tensions escalate between Israel and Iran: Which targets did Israel strike?

Israel has conducted a series of retaliatory strikes against military bases in Iran in response to the country's missile attack on October 1. 

The Israeli military announced that Iran's missile production facilities, missile inventory, and other military systems were targeted. 

In a statement, the military said, “The retaliatory strike has been completed and the mission was successfully accomplished.” At the same time, Israel warned that Iran would “pay a heavy price” if it chose to respond.

The Israeli military stated that its air force jets carried out intelligence-based, precise strikes on facilities that Iran has used in its missile attacks against Israel over the past year. It was also announced that Iran's surface-to-air missiles and other air defense capabilities were targeted.

Iran confirmed that military facilities in the capital, Tehran, and other regions were hit in the attacks, but argued that the strikes “caused limited damage.” Following the attacks, Iran announced that it had closed its airspace to all flights until further notice. Revolutionary Guards Commander Rasul Sanairad emphasized that an attack on nuclear facilities would mean “crossing a red line” and stated that they would respond more strongly to any further attacks on Iran's infrastructure.

STATEMENT FROM THE US 

US National Security Council Spokesperson Sean Savett stated that Israel's strikes were an act of self-defense in response to Iran's missile attack on October 1. 

American defense officials noted that the US was informed prior to the strikes but did not play any role in the operation.

Syrian state news agency SANA reported that Israel conducted airstrikes from the Golan Heights and Lebanon, hitting military positions in southern and central Syria. It was reported that the attacks took place at 02:00 local time and that certain military targets in Syria were struck.
