Tensions escalate in Syria: Syrian National Army continues its advance

The Syrian National Army (SNA) has captured the Kuweires Military Airport in Aleppo. The operation has severed the strategic Tel Rifaat-Manbij logistics line of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The strategic Kuweires Military Airport, located in the Aleppo province, was captured as a result of an operation conducted by the Turkey-backed Syrian National Army (SNA). According to information reported by Anadolu Agency, this operation also severed the logistics line extending between Tel Rifaat and Manbij, which is used by the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

CLASHES REIGNITE IN SYRIA

Recent activity in the rural areas of Aleppo and Idlib is reshaping the balance of power in Syria. The clashes first began in the western countryside of Aleppo on November 27. The fighting between Assad forces and jihadist groups quickly spread toward the center of Aleppo city. As of November 30, jihadist groups have established control over a large portion of Aleppo.

REGIME FORCES REQUEST SUPPORT FROM YPG

It has been reported that regime forces requested support from the YPG-led SDF to halt their loss of territory in Aleppo. Following this development, the SDF dispatched heavy weapons and YPG members from the east of the Euphrates, which it controls, to the Aleppo region. This cooperation between the regime and the YPG prompted the SNA to take action, leading to the start of the operation.

In addition to all these developments, Russian and Syrian warplanes bombed the university hospital in Aleppo. As a result of the attacks, 5 people lost their lives.
