Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed that "the population of the Iranian capital, Tehran, should be evacuated en masse." Katz made the statement following a meeting with Israeli Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir and several military officials.
Stating that he had given instructions to "intensify attacks on regime targets in Tehran," he argued that "all symbols of the regime, such as the Basij and the Revolutionary Guards, must be struck."
In response to Iran's retaliatory attacks, Katz stated, "While Israel continues to target facilities and scientists to prevent Iran's nuclear program, Tehran must carry out a mass evacuation of its population."
