Texas Governor Abbott's 'show of force' against Biden
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, amid an ongoing border security dispute in the U.S., held a press conference alongside 14 Republican governors to send a message to U.S. President Joe Biden that they are taking a united stance on border security.

Returning to the U.S. after his visit to India, Texas Governor Abbott held a joint press conference with Republican governors at the border in the city of Eagle Pass, where a border dispute with the federal government and the Supreme Court is ongoing.
Republican governors from 14 states, including Georgia, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, and Tennessee, appeared before the cameras at the press conference to show their support for Abbott.
In his speech there, Abbott criticized Biden, arguing that because Washington has failed to provide border security, the task has fallen to them, and stated that he would act in concert with other Republican governors against Biden on the issue of border security.
Promising to install more barbed wire at the border, Governor Abbott stated that they would continue to take all necessary measures to prevent illegal migrant crossings.
Emphasizing that they will continue to keep access to Shelby Park, where the Supreme Court has allowed federal agents to enter, under control, Abbott said, "We are here for as long as it takes."
Other Republican governors also harshly criticized the Biden administration in their statements, accusing it of leaving the borders open to illegal entries.
The Republican governors, who promised to send as many National Guard troops and other support elements as needed to Texas Governor Abbott, shared the message that they stand with the state of Texas on this issue.
THE DISPUTE BETWEEN THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION AND THE TEXAS GOVERNOR
Texas Governor Abbott, accusing the Biden administration of failing to take sufficient measures regarding border security, had ordered the installation of approximately 4 kilometers of barbed wire in the border region in the city of Eagle Pass, which is frequently preferred by irregular migrants to cross into the U.S.
The Biden administration, stating that border security is within the authority of the federal government, had applied to the U.S. Supreme Court for the removal of the barbed wire.
The Supreme Court ruled for the removal of the barbed wire installed along the Rio Grande River on the Mexican border, but the dispute with the Biden administration escalated after Texas Governor Abbott announced that he would not comply with this decision.
Despite the court ruling, the Texas National Guard did not allow the U.S. Border Patrol to do its job on January 23 and continued to install barbed wire, while governors from 25 Republican states announced in a joint statement that they stood with Texas.
