The nuclear industry is regaining importance: UK's new plan
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced plans to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on the nuclear industry in the coming years. These plans are expected to create approximately 40,000 new jobs by 2030.

The UK government will invest approximately 200 million pounds in the town of Barrow-in-Furness in northwest England for the construction of nuclear submarines. Additionally, 353 million pounds will be allocated for job creation and training in both the military and civil nuclear sectors.
Due to the course of the war in Ukraine, leading countries in Europe have been discussing increasing their nuclear capacities for some time.
Rishi Sunak's cabinet will work with defense companies BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Babcock, and energy group EDF to implement this plan. Sunak describes these investments as "a necessity to secure the future of our nuclear deterrent and our nuclear energy supply."
The opposition Labour Party has expressed "full support" for these projects. Barrow-in-Furness will play a key role in the construction of next-generation nuclear submarines, which are expected to be deployed by 2040 as part of the AUKUS security pact with Australia and the US.
