Sweden's Minister of Defence Pal Jonson announced today (Monday, September 9) that they will send their 17th aid package to Ukraine, which includes new military equipment worth 4.6 billion Swedish kronor ($443 million).

The new package will include ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles donated by Sweden, as well as grants that will facilitate the future transfer of Gripen fighter jets; Sweden had not previously made an announcement regarding the provision of Gripen aircraft to Ukraine.

In a press conference, Jonson stated, 'We want to have the possibility to donate Gripens to Ukraine in the future.'

NATO had donated F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in recent months.
