Third federal judge in the US approves unsealing of Epstein files

In the US, the former girlfriend and accomplice of billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused ofestablishing a sexual abusering targeting young girls and was founddead in prison,has been the subjectof ongoing legal proceedings.pertaining to the files in the Ghislaine Maxwell investigation a third federal judgehas approved the unsealingof the records. Berman's decision follows two separatefederal court rulings issued withinthe last week. On Tuesday, a federal judgein Manhattanorderedjudge had previously authorized the release of records related to Maxwell's 2021 sexual abuse trial. Lastweek, a judge in Floridaalsograntedapproval for the release of recordsconcerning the grand juryproceedings conducted against Epstein in the 2000sthat were left inconclusive.jury investigation records have been unsealed.

The Department of Justice is required to publish the documents by December 19.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act mandates that the Department of Justice release all materials related to the Epstein and Maxwell files to the public by December 19. This decision imposes a requirement to disclose.The regulation provides a narrow exception for the first time to the customary confidentiality rules applied to grand juryproceedings. The law also includes special provisions forprotecting the identities of victims.
