According to a report broadcast on Iranian state television, the Iranian delegation in the Oman-mediated negotiations between Iran and the US is led by Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the American delegation is led by US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, just as in the previous two rounds.
Both technical negotiations at the expert level and high-level diplomatic talks will be held between the two countries in Oman.
NEGOTIATION PROCESS
US President Donald Trump, who unilaterally withdrew his country from the nuclear deal with Iran in 2018, sent a letter to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in March calling for direct nuclear negotiations with Iran and including threats. Iran responded to the letter via Oman.
Following the exchange of letters, Tehran and Washington held indirect talks in Oman on April 12. The parties met again on April 19 in Rome, the capital of Italy, again with Oman's mediation. Both Iran and the US reported that progress had been made in the negotiations.
