The rising tension between Iran and the US continues with a war of words. Ali Larijani, the head of Iran's National Security Council, made a statement on the social media platform X in response to new threats from US President Donald Trump.
'WATCH YOURSELF'
In his post, Larijani stated, "The Iranian nation is not afraid of your empty threats. Even those stronger than you could not destroy the Iranian nation. Watch yourself."
Larijani's reaction came immediately after Trump's warning that if Iran were to block the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, it would face a response "20 times stronger." Trump had also stated that closing the strait would lead to attacks that would make recovery impossible for Tehran.
Larijani, who spoke in a similar tone in recent days, had previously said that Trump "must pay the price" following attacks on Iran by the US and Israel.
