Threatening message from Israeli Defense Minister to new Hezbollah leader
Hezbollah announced today that its Shura Council had elected Naim Qassem as the new Secretary-General. Shortly after, a new social media post came from the Israeli Defense Minister. In his post, the Minister used language that sounded like a threat toward the new leader.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has hinted at the assassination of Naim Qassem, who was elected as Hezbollah's new Secretary-General.
POST DREW ATTENTION
Gallant shared a post on his social media account regarding Qassem's election as the new leader of Hezbollah.
In the post, which included a photograph of Qassem, Gallant wrote, "Temporary appointment. Not for long."
DECISION ANNOUNCED TODAY
In a statement released by Hezbollah today, it was announced that the Hezbollah Shura Council had elected Qassem as the new Secretary-General.
Naim Qassem previously served as the Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in airstrikes carried out by the Israeli military on Beirut on September 27.
