High-speed trains currently in use in China can reach a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. With the entry of the CR450 into service, it is projected that the duration of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed train journey, which currently takes more than 4 hours, will be reduced to 2.5 hours.

In a test run conducted in June 2023 on the Meizhou Bay Bridge, which connects the cities of Fuzhou and Xiamen in Fujian province, the train's speed reached up to 453 kilometers per hour.

While China's railway network reached 159 thousand kilometers as of the end of 2023, 45 thousand kilometers of this consists of high-speed rail networks.

The country aims to increase its railway network to 165 thousand kilometers and its high-speed rail network to 50 thousand kilometers by 2025.

It is projected that the annual number of passengers transported by rail will reach 3 billion 855 million by the end of this year, an increase of 4.7 percent compared to last year, and that cargo freight will reach 3.9 billion tons, an increase of 0.5 percent.
