Traces of life on asteroid Ryugu
Japanese scientists have announced that all the components necessary to form DNA and RNA, the building blocks of life, have been detected in samples brought from the asteroid Ryugu by the Hayabusa2 spacecraft.

According to a report by Japan's NHK channel, scientists from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) analyzed approximately 20 milligrams of samples brought to Earth from the asteroid Ryugu.
As a result of the examinations, it was determined that all 5 main nucleobases that store the genetic information of DNA and RNA, which form the basis of life, were present in these samples.
Toshiki Koga, one of the experts at JAMSTEC, stated that this finding further strengthens the possibility that nucleobases may have already existed during the formation process of the Solar System.
The findings of the research were published in the journal "Nature".
