Trump and Zelenskyy meet

US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump, who welcomed Zelenskyy at the door, made statements. Trump said the main agenda of the meeting would be peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and security guarantees for Ukraine.
Emphasizing that the war must be ended, Trump said, "We have to make a deal. Too many people are dying, and I believe both leaders want to end this. I believe we can make a good deal for Ukraine, for everyone, this is very important. There is nothing more important than this. We have solved eight wars, and this is the hardest one. But we will handle it. We are going to have a great meeting today."
Stating that he would speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone after his meeting with Zelenskyy, Trump said, "After the meeting, I will call President Putin and we will continue the negotiations. It is complex, but not unsolvable."
When asked if there was a deadline for the agreement, Trump said, "I don't have a deadline. I have deadlines. Do you know what my deadline is? To end the war."
Regarding a question about security guarantees for Ukraine, Trump said, "No one knows yet what the content of the security agreement will be. But a security agreement will be made, and this agreement will be a strong one."

"WE ARE IN THE FINAL STAGES OF NEGOTIATIONS"

Stating that peace would provide great economic benefits to Ukraine, Trump said, "There is huge potential for reconstruction. Ukraine has a great economic opportunity." When asked about frozen Russian assets in Europe, Trump said, "These resources are going somewhere, and it will be fast. We are in the final stages of negotiations."

Regarding a question on whether Russia's recent attacks indicate that Putin is sincere about peace, Trump said, "Both sides are carrying out attacks. This is a war that these two countries entered into willingly, and both peoples want it to end."

Zelenskiy, in response to a question about security guarantees for Ukraine, said, "There will be a security agreement, and it will be strong. European countries have been very interested and supportive of this process." Stating that Europe has made significant contributions to both the negotiations and potential protection mechanisms, Zelenskyy referred to the 20-point plan that US and Ukrainian teams are working on, saying, "90 percent of this plan has been prepared by the teams. We will discuss all points, including territorial issues. We will address our strategy step by step."
The two leaders then moved to the estate's main dining hall to begin the inter-delegation meeting.
