US President Donald Trump made critical statements at a press conference held at the White House. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and Apple CEO Tim Cook also attended the meeting.

Trump began his speech by addressing the armed attack that took place at the Fort Stewart military base in Georgia. Stating that there were those who were seriously injured in the attack, Trump noted that the attacker had been taken into custody and that the investigation was ongoing, saying, "The whole nation is praying for the victims and their families. We hope they make a full recovery and that we can put this behind us. But we will not forget what happened. I will deal with this person, this terrible person, very seriously."

A GIANT 600 BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT FROM APPLE

One of the most notable topics of the meeting was the investment decision of tech giant Apple. Trump announced that Apple will invest a total of 600 billion dollars in the US over the next four years. "This is 100 billion dollars more than they originally planned to invest. And this is the largest investment Apple has ever made in the US or anywhere else," he said. Reminding that Apple had previously made investments in different countries, Trump stated, "I won't say which countries, but there are a few. And now they are coming back. 600 billion dollars. This is the biggest investment."

NO TAX FOR THOSE RETURNING TO THE US FOR PRODUCTION

Trump said that with the new tax policy, companies like Apple are "coming back home." Emphasizing that companies that manufacture in the US or pledge to do so will be supported, Trump said, "We are going to put a very large tariff on chips and semiconductors. But the good news for companies like Apple is this: If you are manufacturing in the US, or if you have made a firm commitment to manufacture, there will be no charge. So in other words, we will not charge any fee."

Stating that many companies are leaving different countries as investments in the US increase, Trump said, "So let me repeat: We will impose a tariff of approximately 100 percent on all chips and semiconductors coming into the US. However, if you are manufacturing in the US, this tax will not apply." He added that the exemption would also apply to companies that have not yet started production: "If you are under construction or in the planning phase, you still won't pay this tax."

RETROACTIVE PENALTY FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT KEEP THEIR INVESTMENT PROMISE

Trump expressed that companies that pledge to produce domestically but fail to do so will be held accountable, stating: "Then we go back and collect that tax. We calculate it retroactively and you pay. That is a guarantee."

Describing the new tax system as a "big announcement," Trump stated that chip manufacturers, in particular, would return to the US. "I think all the chip companies are coming back. You know, we started with Intel, but over time Intel was officially dragged down. Let me be clear, they got into a very difficult situation and moved elsewhere, especially to Taiwan. But I think most of these companies are now coming back. And they are coming back very quickly. This is a big announcement: 100 percent tariff," he said, delivering his message clearly.
