Trump announces 'ceasefire' following Iran's attack: 'Agreement has been reached'

US President Donald Trump announced that a "full and complete ceasefire" has been reached between Israel and Iran, and that the war will thus come to an end.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social regarding the ongoing conflicts between Iran and Israel, Donald Trump used the phrase "congratulations to all."

In his post, Trump stated that "a full agreement has been reached for a full and complete ceasefire between Israel and Iran."

Noting that the war will be considered "ended at this point," Trump stated that Iran will initiate the ceasefire, and Israel will join the ceasefire in the following 12th hour.

Trump stated that in the following 24th hour, the "official end of the 12-day war" will be "greeted" by the world.

Noting that each side will remain "peaceful and respectful" during the other's ceasefire period, Trump said, "Assuming everything works as it should, which it will, I want to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, for having the resilience, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called the '12-day war'."

Trump wrote the following:

"CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL! A full agreement has been reached for a FULL AND COMPREHENSIVE CEASEFIRE between Israel and Iran, effective in approximately 6 hours (after both sides complete their final ongoing operations)!

This ceasefire will last for 12 hours, and at the end of this period, the WAR WILL BE OFFICIALLY CONSIDERED OVER!

Officially, Iran will begin the ceasefire first; at the end of the 12th hour, Israel will join the ceasefire, and at the end of the 24th hour, the OFFICIAL END OF THE 12-DAY WAR will be declared by the WORLD. During each ceasefire segment, the other side will remain CALM and RESPECTFUL.

If everything proceeds as it should — and it will — I heartily congratulate Israel and Iran for the resilience, courage, and intelligence they have shown in ending this war. This could have been a war that lasted for years and could have destroyed the entire Middle East. But it didn't — and it never will!
