Trump announces his pick for FBI Director
Donald Trump, who is preparing to take the seat of the US Presidency at the White House on January 25, 2025, announced that he will appoint Kash Patel as FBI Director.

Donald Trump, elected as the 47th President of the United States, said he will appoint former Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense Kash Patel as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
In a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, "I am proud to announce that Kash Patel will serve as the next Director of the FBI."
Describing him as "a brilliant lawyer and investigator," Trump stated that Patel has dedicated his career to exposing corruption, defending justice, and protecting Americans.
Patel is known for his loyalty to Trump, having served as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense during his first term.
With the nomination of Patel, Trump signaled that Director Christopher Wray, whose term at the FBI is set to expire in 2027, will be removed from office.
Wray was appointed by Trump in 2017 and had begun a 10-year term.
