US President Donald Trump announced that Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, one of the high-ranking figures of the terrorist organization ISIS, was killed in a joint operation.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that US forces and the Nigerian Armed Forces carried out a joint operation.
Trump included the following remarks in his statement:
"Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Nigerian Armed Forces conducted a flawlessly planned and highly complex operation to remove the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield. Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the global second-in-command of ISIS, thought he could hide in Africa, but he did not know that we had sources informing us of what he was doing."
Stating that the operation was carried out in cooperation between the US and the Nigerian military, Trump thanked the Nigerian administration for their support during the process.
