U.S. President Donald Trump made remarks at a signing ceremony for a new bill for veterans at the White House. Stating that the U.S. economic power is growing, Trump announced that they have taken significant steps in foreign trade agreements and have become a country that is once again respected worldwide. Trump said, "America is now the strongest economy in the world; today, leaders of many countries told me, 'A year ago you were a dead country, now you are the most popular country in the world.'"
Touching upon the negotiations with China within the scope of foreign trade policies, Trump said, "We are making good progress with China. I think it will turn out very well. We are on the same page. I think we will make a very fair deal with China," adding that agreements with the European Union and Japan have been completed and that they are on the verge of a major trade deal with Indonesia.
"TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS WILL FLOW INTO OUR COUNTRY"
Regarding foreign trade negotiations, Trump said, "These were things that needed to be done, and they are being done correctly. Trillions of dollars will flow into our country. We are currently talking to many countries. As for customs duties, we have a standard procedure."
"THERE IS NO INFLATION BUT INTEREST RATES ARE HIGH"
Criticizing the policies of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) with harsh words, President Trump said, "High interest rates are hindering home purchases and slowing down the economy. There is no inflation, but interest rates are high. Because of the Fed, we are in 38th place when we should be the country with the lowest interest rates." Emphasizing that a 1-point reduction in interest rates would save the country $365 billion annually, Trump said, "The Fed is doing a bad job right now."
"BRICS GROUP IS ATTACKING THE DOLLAR"
Stating that new penalties are on the agenda in addition to the 25 percent customs duty on India, Trump said this decision is related to both the BRICS group's stance toward the dollar and India's high customs duties. "India is our friend, but they sell us a lot of products, and we cannot buy from them because their taxes are very high. Now they are ready to lower them. Negotiations with India are ongoing. The BRICS group is attacking the dollar, and we will not allow anyone to attack the dollar," he said.
"MATERIALS PROVIDED BY RUSSIA SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED"
Regarding reports that the FBI found "burn bags"—security pouches known for holding sensitive documents—filled with thousands of classified files related to the Trump-Russia investigation in a secure room, Trump stated, "I don't know what happened, but if it is to be done in a reasonable and fair manner, I want everything to come out." Noting that these documents were controlled by Democrats, Trump added, "If they had anything, they would have used it before the election."
Trump stated that a $500 million deal with Harvard University is being discussed, adding, "That is a lot of money. Negotiations are ongoing."
"PELOSI SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED"
Stating that he supports a bill introduced by some senators that would ban all members of Congress, including the President and Vice President, from individual stock trading, Trump said, "Pelosi got rich on insider information; it's shameful. She has achieved higher returns than almost anyone in the history of Wall Street. How did this happen? I think Nancy Pelosi should be investigated."
