Trump challenges China, will he meet with Putin? He announced a new customs duty

US President Donald Trump hosted Indian representatives at the White House as part of India's Diwali festival. During the meeting, Trump made statements regarding the current agenda and also answered questions from journalists.

Addressing the issue of a potential meeting with Putin, which White House sources have stated is not on the agenda for now, Trump said, "I don't want to have a meeting for nothing. I don't want to waste time for nothing. So, I'll see what happens."

“EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A LITTLE BREAK”

Recalling his efforts to end wars throughout his term in his speech, Trump referred to his past peace initiatives with the words, "I told them: 'Go to the front line, then pull back and go home. Everyone should take a little break.' Because there are two countries killing each other."

Drawing attention to the devastating scale of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Trump stated that weekly military casualties are between 5 and 7 thousand, adding, "We will see what happens." Noting that the possibility of a meeting with Putin is not completely off the table, Trump said, "We haven't made a decision yet."

TRUMP'S MESSAGE ON ADDITIONAL TAXES FOR CHINA

Trump also gave a clear answer to the question about the new customs duties to be applied to China. "As of November 1, a customs duty of approximately 155 percent will be applied to China. I don't think this is sustainable for them," said Trump, explaining the reasons for this decision.

Emphasizing that he wanted to be polite to China but that a tough stance had been taken against the US for years, Trump said, "Because we had presidents who were not smart about business. Some were good politicians, some weren't even good politicians. But they allowed China and all other countries to take advantage of us."
