US President Donald Trump has issued a new statement regarding the global tariffs he announced following the US Supreme Court's decision to cancel his customs tariff applications against various countries. In a statement on his social media account, Trump described the court's decision as "a ridiculous, poorly written, and extremely anti-American tariff ruling issued after months of deliberations by the Court." Trump said, "As a result of my comprehensive, detailed, and complete review, as President of the United States, I am announcing that, effective immediately, the 10 percent global tariff applied to many countries that have been 'robbing' the US for years will be increased to 15 percent, which is the fully legal and legally tested limit."

The US President added, "In the coming months, the Trump Administration will determine and publish new and legally feasible customs tariffs in a short time."

"We will do everything in our power to make more money"

In a previous statement, Trump had announced that he had signed an executive order providing for a 10 percent global customs tax on all countries, stating, "This tax will go into effect almost immediately." Arguing that the members of the US Supreme Court who voted against the tariffs should be ashamed of themselves, Trump had said, "Their decision was ridiculous, but now the adjustment process begins, and we will do everything in our power to make more money than we have earned before."

The US Supreme Court accepted the decision to cancel the customs tariffs that Trump used as a strategic weapon against other countries and which caused trade wars, with a 6-to-3 vote, declaring that Trump's tariffs were an overreach of authority.

Arguing that what the court did was not to cancel the tariffs but to block one of the ways to implement them, Trump had said there were other laws that provided him with the opportunity to implement tariffs. Pointing out that he could use other laws and tariff implementation authorities, Trump had stated that the existing "national security" tariffs would be preserved exactly as they are and would remain fully in effect. Trump had said, "Today, I will also sign an executive order introducing a 10 percent global tariff under Section 122 (of the Trade Act) in addition to the tariffs already in place."
