The rift between US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who was a major supporter of Trump during the elections and was appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after Trump was elected president for a second term, is growing.

US President Trump stated regarding Musk, "Elon Musk disappointed me greatly by opposing my tax bill. I don't know if we will have a very good relationship with Musk anymore."

Trump said the following:

"Elon and I had a very good relationship until now, but I don't know if we have a good relationship anymore. I am very disappointed by what Elon said (regarding the tax bill), even though I helped him a lot. He hasn't said bad things about me yet, but I am sure that will happen soon. Elon is upset that we are removing the incentives provided for electric vehicles. I think Elon misses the White House. Some people who leave here accept it, while others start acting hostile."

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had also recently harshly criticized the new tax and spending bill supported by Trump, describing the bill named the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (OBBBA) as a "disgusting disgrace."
