Trump: I think we have reached an agreement with Russia, now it's Zelensky's turn

US President Trump made assessments regarding the Russia-Ukraine War during a signing ceremony held in the Oval Office.

Trump stated that peace talks with Russia and Ukraine are ongoing and that he believes they will reach an agreement with both countries.

"I think Russia is ready for a deal. I think we have reached an agreement with Russia, now we need to reach an agreement with Zelensky. I thought it would be easier to reach an agreement with Zelensky, it has been harder so far. But that's okay, I think we can reach an agreement with both of them," Trump said, noting that ending the war is his biggest goal.

Responding to a question, Trump noted that he could meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, not in Saudi Arabia, but shortly after, and emphasized that they have made more progress in reaching an agreement with Russia.

Answering a question about what policy he would follow regarding Russia's annexation of Crimea, Trump said, "If both are happy, if both have signed a deal, I don't care about the rest. Neither one is my favorite."

US President Trump had argued that Ukrainian President Zelensky's statement that "Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea" was "extremely harmful" in terms of the negotiations being conducted with Russia.

In a statement he made at the White House the other day, Trump noted that the Russia-Ukraine process is proceeding positively and assessed that "the possibility of a Russia-Ukraine agreement happening this week is quite high."

Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow last week, and the White House announced that the talks were proceeding positively and that Witkoff would go to Moscow again this week.
