Trump: I will not be happy at all if a ceasefire decision is not reached today

US President Donald Trump made statements to members of the press on Air Force One before his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the US state of Alaska.

When asked under what conditions the talks in Alaska could be described as a "success," the US President said, "I don't know, there is nothing certain right now. There are some specific points I want; I want an immediate ceasefire.

I don't know if a ceasefire decision will be reached today, but if that decision is not reached today, I will not be happy at all. Everyone says it's not possible today, but I want the slaughter to stop now.

We got into this to prevent people from dying. We are not spending money on this; on the contrary, we are making money from it. NATO is buying weapons from us and making nice, big payments to us.

However, I don't care about that. What I really care about is that 7 thousand 11 people, mostly soldiers, have lost their lives in the past week, and 36 people have died in a city hit by missiles. This is unthinkable," he said.

Trump also stated, "This issue has nothing to do with Europe. I am not acting based on what Europe tells me. However, they will clearly be involved in this process along with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy," he said.
