US President-elect Donald Trump made a brief statement to the press following his meeting with Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
In his statement, Trump drew attention to the Russia-Ukraine War and said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had requested a meeting with him.
"Putin wants to meet with me. We are planning this meeting. President Putin has clearly expressed this request. We need to end this war; it is a very bloody war," said Trump, who did not share any details regarding when the meeting would take place.
In his previous statements, Trump had also indicated that he aimed to end the Russia-Ukraine War shortly after taking office, and had expressed his readiness to meet with Putin for this purpose.
