Trump meets with Zelensky: I think we will resolve the issue

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, in a statement to reporters before his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said, "We have a very good relationship with Zelensky, and as you know, I also have a very good relationship with President Putin. If we win, I think we will resolve this issue (the war) very quickly."

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York. The two, who held their first face-to-face meeting since 2019 at Trump Tower, made statements to reporters before the meeting.

Stating that he had met with both Trump and his Democratic rival in the November 5 election, Vice President Kamala Harris, Zelensky said, "Because Ukraine needs strong US support in its ongoing war with Russia."

Trump, who spoke highly of Zelensky, said, "He has gone through something tremendous, something that probably almost nobody else in history has gone through."

Stating that he has a solid relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said, "We have a very good relationship with Zelensky, and as you know, I also have a very good relationship with President Putin. If we win, I think we will resolve this issue (the war) very quickly."

"I HAD A PRODUCTIVE MEETING"

In a statement on his social media account following the meeting, Ukrainian President Zelensky said, "I had a very productive meeting with Donald Trump.

I presented our Victory Plan to him, and we comprehensively reviewed the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the war for our people. Many details were discussed. I am grateful for this meeting. A just peace is needed. We share a common view that the war in Ukraine must be stopped. Putin cannot win. Ukrainians must prevail."
