US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent shared the news on the social media platform X that the minting process for this special coin, dedicated to the country's two-and-a-half-century history of independence, will begin. In his post, Secretary Bessent stated the following:

"As America celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence, the US Mint will begin minting this new 1-dollar gold coin to honor the enduring legacy of freedom and an unwavering symbol of patriotism. This coin, featuring President Trump, celebrates the strength of American values and the promise of a nation dedicated to protecting freedom for all."

Bessent's statement did not provide any details regarding how many coins will be produced, the gold content, or the release date.

According to the design shown in the post, the new 1-dollar gold coin features a portrait of President Donald Trump in the center on one side. To the right of the portrait is the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST," while "LIBERTY" appears along the top and the dates "1776-2026" are visible at the bottom. These dates symbolize the US Declaration of Independence and its 250th anniversary.

The reverse side of the coin features a bald eagle with its wings spread, representing American culture. The number "250" is placed on the shield on the eagle's chest. Additionally, the phrases "United States of America" at the top and "One Dollar" at the bottom are prominent.
