Trump 'optimistic' about a potential peace deal with Iran: They are becoming much more reasonable

US President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the situation ahead of the contacts to be held between the parties in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, following the ceasefire reached between the US-Israel and Iran.

Speaking to the US-based NBC News, Trump said he is "optimistic" about the possibility of a potential peace deal with Iran.

Regarding the recent negotiations with Iran, Trump said, "The Iranian leaders are speaking differently during the talks than they are speaking to the press. They are becoming much more reasonable. They are accepting everything they need to accept.

Don't forget, they have been conquered. Their military is gone," he stated.

Trump said, "If they cannot reach an agreement, it will be very painful for them."

He argued that Israel has reduced its attacks on Lebanon

Trump confirmed that he has also been in contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the ceasefire, which was on the verge of collapse due to Israel's attacks on Lebanon. While arguing that the Israelis have reduced their attacks in Lebanon, Trump said, "I spoke with Bibi (Netanyahu) and he said he wouldn't drag it out too long. I think we should also be a little calmer."

Contacts in Pakistan

US Vice President James David Vance, Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law and former senior advisor Jared Kushner are expected to attend the meetings scheduled to be held between the parties in Pakistan. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had stated that the contacts would begin over the weekend.
