Trump publishes messages sent to him by Macron and Rutte

US President Donald Trump shared private messages sent to him by French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on social media. In the message he sent to Trump, Macron stated, "My friend, we are in complete agreement on Syria. We can do great things regarding Iran. I don't understand what you are doing about Greenland. Let's try to do great things. I can organize a G7 meeting in Paris after Davos on Thursday afternoon. I can also invite the Ukrainians, the Danes, the Syrians, and the Russians. Let's have dinner together in Paris on Thursday before you return to the US."

Rutte, in his message to Trump, said, "Mr. President, dear Donald, what you achieved in Syria today is incredible. I will use my media events in Davos to highlight the work you have done there, in Gaza, and in Ukraine. I am determined to find a way to resolve the Greenland issue. I look forward to meeting with you."

Trump later stated in an interview with the US press regarding the matter that he published these private messages because Macron and Rutte supported his view. Trump said, "This confirmed my view. They are saying, 'Let's have dinner, let's do this, let's do that.' This confirmed my view."

Stating that Macron and Rutte praised his previously unknown work in Syria in their messages because he "did a great job," Trump said, "Do you know what I did? I prevented escapes from a prison. We did a good job on Syria. There had been a prison break. European prisoners were escaping and I stopped it. This happened yesterday."
