Trump-related arrest in the US

In the US state of Florida, it has been reported that an individual who used threatening language toward US President Donald Trump in social media posts has been taken into custody.

In a press release shared by the West Palm Beach Police Department, it was announced that Shannon Depararra Atkins (46), a Florida resident who made threatening posts toward Trump on social media, has been taken into custody.

In a tip-off regarding Atkins provided to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), it was stated that the suspect had made threats of ''killing, mass shooting, or committing an act of terrorism'' against President Trump.

It was also reported that Atkins, who was found to be in possession of cocaine during a search conducted while being taken into custody during a traffic stop, is also being charged with drug possession.

It was noted that while Atkins was found to live a few kilometers away from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, there were no indications of any attempt to reach the estate.

On July 13, 2024, Trump was subjected to an armed attack while addressing supporters from a podium at a rally in the Butler area of Pennsylvania; 1 person attending the rally died, 2 people were injured, and the US Secret Service announced that the attacker had been neutralized.
