US President Donald Trump continues his efforts toward a potential ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Hours before US President Trump's Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met with President Putin in Russia, Trump made statements on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Referring to Russia's attacks in Ukraine, Trump stated, "Russia must take action. Thousands of people are dying every week in a horrific and senseless war. A war that should never have happened and would never have happened if I were President."

MEETING HAS BEGUN

A statement from the Kremlin indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has begun meeting with US President Donald Trump's Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Saint Petersburg.

It is reported that if a ceasefire is not achieved in Ukraine by the end of the month, Trump may impose additional sanctions by using his executive authority against Russia or by requesting that Congress pass new sanctions legislation.

Witkoff and Putin previously held a meeting in Moscow on March 13.
