Trump's son-in-law meets with Sisi in Egypt

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, traveled to Egypt as part of contacts regarding the implementation of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Trump's plan for Gaza. Kushner was received by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the Egyptian city of El Alamein.
The meeting addressed the Palestinian issue, primarily the Gaza Strip, and other crises in the region. According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency, el-Sisi emphasized the need to continue cooperation against common challenges to support regional and international security and stability.
The statement noted that the importance of all parties fulfilling their obligations under the ceasefire agreement currently in effect in the Gaza Strip was highlighted.
It was reported that Kushner expressed satisfaction with the close coordination between the US and Egypt and thanked Cairo for its efforts toward regional peace and stability. Kushner stated that Egypt is an important partner for the US in the Middle East.
Qatar-based Al Jazeera suggested that Kushner was also expected to make contact with a Hamas delegation during his visit to Egypt. The discussions are expected to cover topics such as the deployment of an International Stabilization Force to the region, Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, and humanitarian aid.
A delegation led by Hamas Political Bureau Chief Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Egypt yesterday and had previously been received by Egyptian Intelligence Chief Major General Hassan Rashad. Kushner is also expected to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of his contacts in the region.
