Trump says he does not require a democratic or religious state for Iran: 'Just needs to behave well'

US President Donald Trump said in a statement on the 7th day of US and Israeli attacks that the Iranian leadership had been “neutralized.” Trump claimed that he wants a new administration that will get along well with the US and Israel, and that it does not matter whether it is a religious leadership or if the country has a democratic structure.
Expressing his confidence that the process of determining a new leader in Iran will be easy, Trump reiterated that he should also be involved in this process. Comparing the task once again to Venezuela, Trump recalled that the US captured Nicolás Maduro earlier this year and installed his deputy. Trump used the following expressions: “This will work very easily. It will work like it did in Venezuela. We have a great leader there. He is doing a fantastic job. It will work just like in Venezuela”.
Trump also said he is open to the option of a religious leader in Iran. “I could be, yes. I mean, it depends on who that person is. I am not against religious leaders. I work with many religious leaders and they are wonderful,” he said.

When asked if he insisted on the condition of a democratic Iran, Trump told CNN, “No, I am saying there must be a leader who will be fair and equitable. They must do their job well. They must behave well toward the US and Israel, and they must behave well toward other countries in the Middle East. They are all our partners,” he said.
Trump continued to praise his relations with countries in the Middle East, claiming that these countries are “fighting for the US.”
Trump said, “I have built very good relationships with all of these countries. That is why they are all fighting for us. Before I stepped in, we weren't even talking to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. You know, (President Joe) Biden alienated them. Biden and (President Barack) Obama alienated Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar; they alienated them all. They were all going to turn to China, and I stepped in very quickly and became their friend,” he said.
In a separate statement to CNN, Trump also said that Cuba “will collapse soon.” While praising US military successes during his second presidential term, Trump said in a phone interview with CNN's Dana Bash, “By the way, unrelated, but Cuba will also collapse soon. They are dying to make a deal. They want to make a deal, so I am going to send Marco (Rubio) there and we will see how it turns out. That is our main focus right now. We have plenty of time, but Cuba is ready after 50 years,” he said.
