Trump says 'We won't need to stay in Iran for long': It will open on its own when we leave

US President Donald Trump made statements regarding the Iran war in a phone interview with the US press. Trump said, "We won't need to stay there for a very long time. But there is still work to be done in terms of eliminating the offensive capacity they have, that is, the remaining part."

Trump said that other countries could resolve the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has kept closed for weeks. Trump stated, "I think it will open on its own. But my approach is this: I have devastated the country. They no longer have the power, and the countries that use the strait can go and open it. Because I think whoever controls the oil will be very happy to open the strait," he said.

"The strait will open on its own when we leave"

US President Trump harshly criticized US allies for not being willing to form a multinational fleet to open the strait. Addressing the claim in a report published by the Wall Street Journal that he was prepared to end the war without the Strait of Hormuz being opened, Trump said, "To tell you the truth, I'm not thinking about the strait issue. My only goal was to ensure they don't have nuclear weapons. They will not have nuclear weapons. The strait will open on its own when we leave," he said.

Refusing to disclose exactly what the airstrikes carried out at night near the Iranian city of Isfahan targeted, Trump said he was surprised by the magnitude of the explosion there and that this indicated significant ammunition was used on the ground. Trump said, "I prefer not to say, but you will find out soon. They were quite big, weren't they?" he said. Stating that the target hit would soon be revealed, Trump praised the attack by saying, "What an explosion it was."

"We have achieved regime change"

Trump said, "Actually, it was bigger than we thought. This means they had a lot of things there. We are eliminating their nuclear capacity and we have achieved regime change. You know, we are currently dealing with a completely different group, and these are much more reasonable people compared to the previous ones. This is a real regime change," he said.

When asked whether he would send his negotiating team, which includes Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Vice President James David Vance, to another country, Trump did not answer, saying, "I don't want to say that. I cannot talk to you about all these issues," indicating that he would not share his strategy with the press.
